Jòan joined Frank’s research team at Columbia Law School several years before co-founding Optimalex. Today, Jòan heads Optimalex's legal team, conducting work in American, French, and International Law. 

Having grown up between France and the US, Jòan is both a French and English native speaker, hence a major interest of his is international and comparative law. ​
